East Meets West Health Coaching Approach

My name is Ally and I am your health coach and founder of Little Bliss Co. The story of Little Bliss Co. actually starts 5 years ago, when I originally had the idea to create a blog focused on the mind, body, spirit connection. It started off being reflective pieces and introspective blog posts about our spiritual nature, followed by how our mind and body are deeply connected to our sense of well-being. A year or two after beginning the website, I went through a 3 year journey of chronic disease, unexplained symptoms, and an ensuing 2 years of illness, and doctors. This was the summation of my last two years of college, and really turned my life upside down. I never had any energy, dealt with chronic pain, unending brain fog, anxiety, constant sickness, urgent care visits, nerve loss, and more. After seeing too many specialists with no answers, I finally turned to functional doctors in hopes of finding some relief. I had been doing so much reading about understanding how our mental and emotional bodies are so connected to our physical, and how others that had faced chronic disease found healing through diet and lifestyle changes. When I was told my conditions had ‘no cause’ and were ‘for life’, something didn’t add up to me, so I took a new direction looking for functional doctors.

Working with a functional doctor, my eyes were opened to the world of ‘root cause medicine’, where a step beyond symptom management actually was taken to look into why the chronic symptoms started in the first place. I worked with a few different people, learning that mold illness and lyme disease with a cohort of co-infections, were all at play in my system. I put everything I could into healing through functional treatments, supplements, herbal support, diet, exercise, lifestyle, and the mental work I needed to really heal from a holistically. I took what seemed like ‘forced’ year off from life in order to get my life back. My world felt like it had flipped upside down, but I came out the other side feeling back to a sense of health I hadn’t experienced in what felt like over 5 years. I couldn’t pinpoint one treatment, supplement, herb, or diet that did it for me, it truly took a little bit of everything to rebalance my system, detoxify, work with infections, rewire my nervous system, and find the mind-body balance that got me back to a place of health.

Throughout this journey I learned so much from the people I worked with about the underlying causes of ‘dis-ease’ in the body, and how it truly takes a comprehensive, whole system approach in order to heal. I was amazed at this new world of medicine that wasn’t ingrained in our system, yet was the only thing that took me seriously and provided me not just with a band-aid to a symptom, but true healing. I became so immersed in learning about root-cause medicine, healing our hormones, regulating our nervous system, using food as medicine, and how the mind and body are so connected. I read books, dove into podcasts, and talked with anyone I could learn from.

I started getting connected with other women around my age going through similar things, helping them through sharing my experience and anything I could to guide them towards the right people to work with, or any other things that I thought could help. It felt good to give back and help others find true healing like I did.

Eventually, after getting out of my teaching career, I decided to take this to the next step, and dive into further studying holistic health through a year and a half long Ayurvedic Medicine course. This taught me so much about how Eastern medicine views health as a sense of balance, and going back to the basics of health with 5000 year old time tested methods that are still applicable today, can truly transform our health. I have continued to build off my Ayurvedic background with learning about functional medicine, supplemental therapies, and other modern modalities and ‘biohacking’ therapies that are having profound effects on people’s health.

My unique way of working with people takes on an ‘East meets West’ approach to healing. I focus on understanding the root causes of imbalance in the body, and look at how we approach healing from a holistic perspective. That may include working with your diet, lifestyle, implementing new routines, working with your nervous system, herbal support, supplements, protocols for specific symptoms or conditions, exercise, recommendations for different testing options, or referrals to who will be the most helpful for the parts of your journey that are out of the scope of my practice!  This is so individualized depending on someone’s unique constitution, symptoms, history, and story. Every person’s healing journey is different, and my goal is to connect them with the information, guidance, and resources to bring themselves back to a point of health and balance. Our bodies are truly miraculous, and have amazing healing abilities that we all have the power to tap into!

My goal is to make healing accessible to you. I am here to listen, and do everything in my knowledge and power I can to support you along your journey of health! I offer two different routes for individual appointments depending on what route is more aligned with you! Having a background and certification as an Ayurvedic Wellness Coach, I have options focusing on Ayurveda, where we’ll take a more Eastern focused approach to your journey. We’ll focus on learning about your Ayurvedic constitution, and view your wellness plan through the lens of Ayurveda’s ‘dosha’ system. This includes more holistic therapies and lifestyle support, herbal recommendations, building your routines and daily practices that bring the most balance to you, and nutritional guidance. I also have options to take on more traditional health coaching for more Western focused protocols, supplements, nutrition, lifestyle, nervous system and hormone balance, and other modalities that offer holistic support!
